CONSTANTA
– A COSMOPOLITAN CENTER

Constanta
is the hub which links all the resorts of the Romanian seaside and is one of
the most important cities in the country. It is a city with a long history (the
Tomis stronghold dates since VII – VI Century B.C.), with old traditions, much
art and many cultural monuments. It has an international airport, a touring
port for those who arrive by sea, and it is an important railway hub.

The benefits of
natural treatments for a wide variety of afflictions are many. The sea’s water
has many valuable minerals  (chloral,
sulphur, magnesium, sodium) and the
climate makes for ideal conditions where you can relax and feel well within
yourself. You can also enjoy the expansive beach with fine sand which are
important elements in the practice of treatments such as heliotherapy and
thallasotherapy.

The promenade, the Casino (built
in 1907-1910), The Old Lighthouse (1860-1861) and the Dolphinarium are just
some of the main attractions in the City of Constanta.
Also,  there are many modern hostelries
and beautiful open spaces.

There are over
10 hotels (Palas, Tineretului etc), 30 touring villas, houses in the “Cismea”
complex, “Peninsula”. The Bulevard and Tibotur Hotels
have reasonable prices, and the Gucci, Sport and Parc hotels are luxurious and
provide a quality service.

MAMAIA – “THE PEARL
OF THE ROMANIAN RIVIERA”

Mamaia, “the
pearl of the Romanian Riviera”, situated at 5 km north of the municipality
of Constanta, has an 8 km long
beach, with a width of 100-250m. It boasts  fine sand and still waters that will delight
the tourist. The climate is perfect from May through September making this
resort the preferred choice of many Romanian and foreign visitors.

Mamaia has over
27.000 beds in modern hotels and other hostelries. There are many many
restaurants, bars and night clubs, all designed to meet your every need. Built
especially for family vacations, Mamaia guarantees no end of entertainment
opportunities including amusement and sports facilities, water sports (on the
sea and the lake Siutghiol),
tennis, bowling, minigolf, snooker, pool etc. One of the most important
attractions in the resort is Satul de Vacanta – a pictueresque quarter with 31
restaurants, decorated in a typical rural style in accordance with the region
it represents. Another attraction of Mamaia resort is Aqua
Park. This is hugely popular with
families of all ages and you could easily spend your entire day here enjoying
what’s on offer.

The beauty of
the resort is augmented by the many palm trees planted in the promenade area in
2002. In many ways, this adds to the overall charm of the resort and reminds us
of many Mediterranean seaside resorts. The entire resort can also be enjoyed
and admired from above on the tele-gondola which runs in a south-north
direction. Here, you can climb on board an enclosed glass shuttle at either
end. Then, sit back and enjoy the ride. As you ‘fly’ across the resort at a
great height, you get to enjoy an entirely different vista, an aspect of the
resort that would not be possible on the ground. It is a magical experience,
one which combines excitement and romance on the same journey with the sea at
your feet.

Other attractions include the
Music Festival in Mamaia, which takes place every summer, at the Summer
Theatre, and is a huge attraction for music lovers and musicians alike.
