A trip to Muntii Apuseni
TRADITION AND HISTORY
At Apuseni, there are villages where agriculture, woodwork, crockery, weaving and mining are the traditions which sustained its’ inhabitants for generations and many have been preserved despite the passage of time.
The traditional houses, with archaic character intact, the churches of stone, and the practice and of some old trades and skills make Apuseni a special and exciting place. We can still see today evidence of the more popular technical installations of that time such as: mills, mills with vertical wheel, vortexes (used for the processing and cleaning of textiles), and woodworking machines. The clothes, textiles and purls also represent an important part of the history of the area.
The old customs are still maintained in Apuseni, the most famous being “Targul de fete from Mount Gaina” that takes place every year in July.
How many of us knew that in Muntii Apuseni, at Brad, there is a museum unique to our country, namely The Gold Museum, that has unique mineral exhibits. There are also a series of ethnographic museums, memorial houses and historic monuments.
THE RURAL TOURISM IN APUSENI
If you really want to know Apuseni then you should consider spending your vacation amongst the extremely hospitable inhabitants. The householders invite tourists in to their homes where you can sample what it is like to live in typical rural setting with home-made food and drink.
Developed agricultural tourist sites can be found in Bubesti, Garda de Sus, Belis, Pietroasa, Bucium, Galbena, Coblis and Baita. These are officially registered and are open to tourists the whole year round.
