The mountain tourism in Romania
TRANSFAGARASAN
DN 7
C, best-known as Transfagarasan , represents one of the most
spectacular roads of the country. It is the link between the two
regions of the country – Transilvania and Muntenia. Transfagarasan is
built in the high region of Carpatii Meridionali, and sweeps through
the most important Romanian mountain range, Muntii Fagaras. The many
serpentine tunnels and viaducts lead you to an altitude of 2 000 m
and welcome you to unseen landscapes. Beyond this, the road opens up
to a huge abyss. Everything culminates at Balea Lac, one of the
biggest lakes of glacial origin of the country. You must know, that
if you want to pass Transfagarasan by car, you may only do it from
the end of June till the beginning of October, and even then, only
if the climate conditions are favourable.
ECOTOURISM
The
great number of natural protected areas, from the nature’s
monuments and reservations (geo – morphological, spelaeological,
palaeontological, floristic, faunistic, complex) to natural parks
provides you with the possibility of enjoying what we describe as eco
– tourism in the Carpathians. There are 14 natural parks situated
in the Carpathian area: Domogled – Valea Cernei, Retezat, Cheile
Nerei – Beusnita, Apuseni, Rotna, Bucegi, Cheile Bicazului –
Hasmas, Ceahlau, Caliman, Cozia, Piatra Craiului, Prtile de Fier,
Gradistea Muncelului – Cioclovina, Semenic – Cheile Carasului.
These are arranged in such a way so as to lead you through this
touring circuit. You must know that visiting the naturally protected
areas imposes special restrictions – Strict rules designed to protect
the vegetation, fauna and other protected elements.
