Trips and winter sports on Valea Prahovei

BUSTENI

The resort is situated at 830-970 m altitude, under the steep slope of the Masive Caraiman in Bucegi. It is a popular tourist destination all year round. You may climb up to the Bucegi Platform (with the telecabin or on the marked routes); to the Urlatoarea cascade; or to the chalets at Gura Dihamului, Poiana Izvoarelor, Omul. The most popular routes are the ones to the Piatra Arsa, Babele, Sfinxul or the Cross on Caraiman (height of 33 m). During the winter the resort is popular for the winter sports.

For those who enjoy mountaineering, you will be glad to hear that you can enjoy it on routes with different degrees of difficulty which progressively grow from 1 to 6 (6A and 6B, for the Blue Crack in the wall of the White Valley).

AZUGA

A typical mountain region, the Azuga resort is situated at 930-950 m. In the south-east part of the city, the tourists can enjoy the two ski tracks with telesky access. The resort is serviced by artificial snow cannons so as to ensure the best skiing conditions at all times.

Azuga has also a new funicular ski track at Cazacu (cable installation and machines for snow sustenance) besides the olympic track at Sorica. From here you can ascend to the chalets in Baiului and Piatra Mare Mountains.

PREDEAL

Predeal is the city situated at a higher altitude – 1040 m in the CFR station and 1110 m at the Cioplea restaurant. The mountain climate, with relatively low atmospheric pressure, the breezy summers and snowy winters makes it possible to enjoy this resort in summer and winter.

On the outskirts, Predeal has a great number of tourist chalets, motels, hotels and guest houses which are open all year round. There are ski tracks with different degrees of difficulty, electrically illuminated, with funiculars and telesky. (Clabucet Leaving and Clabucet Arrival, Cocos).

Do not miss a visit to the Predeal monastery, built between 1818-1819. The church has much of its’ original interior intact and has been declared a historic monument.
