A visit in Piatra-Neamt

Around the city

When you want to get away from the city, you can take a walk and enjoy its vicinities. You will find yourself in a serene environment, surrounded by various species of trees, flowers and being peeked at by badgers, squirrels, rabbits, foxes, weasels or deer.Piatra Neamt - The Ceahlau Mountain

In case you feel physically fit, you can venture on a trip on the Cozla Mountain in the northern part of the city. You will surely have enough itineraries to choose from, passing monuments of nature on the way. It is this place where you can come face to face with the snow on the skiing slopes during winter.
You can also set off for a journey to the Cozla Park and Zoo which is set up on successive terraces on the southern slope of the mountain.

If you go to the top terrace you will be overwhelmed by an incredible view of the entire city. You can spend time in the meadow you will find here and relax on picnics during the warm season.

The Keys of Bicaz

If you feel extremely passionate about nature and you can never say you have had enough, it would be a pity to miss the chance of taking a trip on “Cheile Bicazului” (the Keys of Bicaz) while you are in the area. The sight is absolutely outstanding as you pass through this road that is literally cut through stone. You feel an almost inexplicable joy as you feast your eyes on this amazing show the nature has to offer. The Bicaz Lake

History walktrough

For those who love following the footsteps of history, visiting “Cetatea Neamtului” is an absolute must-have. This medieval fortress is located about 45 kilometers away from Piatra-Neamt. Documents talk of its existence even before the year 1395, but its most flourishing period was during the reign of Stephen the Great when it played a vital role in the defense strategy he conceived to protect Moldova. The exterior walls are fortified by internal ones to resist the attacks and were preserved until the current day.

While walking through the interior yard, you can just imagine the events that made history here so many years ago. If you do not feel in the mood to go such a long way for a journey throughout history, there is an alternative. The old fortress from Dacia called “Batca Doamnei” is located only 4 kilometers away from Piatra-Neamt. This is one of the most interesting ancient fortifications from the region of Moldova and is also considered to be the oldest historical monument in Piatra-Neamt. Although there are only some remains left of the testimonial, a trip to this ancient fortress is guaranteed to be a memorable experience. The City Tower

When arriving there, you will be struck by the magnificent view. You will be amazed by all the mountain cliffs surrounding you while you contemplate the panorama of the city of Piatra-Neamt, the artificial lake and the Bistrita monastery. While on this voyage throughout antique times, another place you could consider visiting is the medieval complex from the reign of Stephen the Great. It is situated in the Liberty Square in the center of the city and includes the Royal Court, St. John’s Church and the Bell Tower. Although only a part of the basement and of the interior walls were preserved, walking around here can be a fulfilling experience as you will be impressed by the energy of the place.

Local night life

In case the long trips from the day did not exhaust you completely, you can take a while to enjoy the local night life. There are several bars and restaurants where you can enjoy yourself after such a soliciting and adventurous day.

No matter the mood you are in nor your favorite past time, you will have plenty of things to choose from while you are here. Hence you must not worry: this place is anything but boring.
