Arad – One Millenia on the Banks of Mures

Here are some of the most beautiful and interesting buildings in Arad which worth seeing:

  • Casa cu ghiulele/ The house with cannon balls (dates back to 1800; address: Calea Timisorii nr. 18) – this house has a strange look as one can notice there are 17 cannon balls left into its walls from the 1848 – 1849 revolution.

Other attractions of Arad

If you are to visit this city we also recommend you the Neptun swimming pool – this a very large and fun place, with lots of entertaining facilities especially in summer and early autumn. There are swimming pools, sport grounds, playing areas for children, pubs, discos and camping facilities.

Mures front bank is another great place to go out in Arad – there are a few parks and green areas such as Mihai Eminescu Park, The Children’s Park or Europa Park where you can go out for a walk or a run. There are a few festivals and concerts to go on in the area in summer.

If you stay a bit longer in Arad you might also want to go to “Paduricea” – this is a nice green area, with a lake and a small forest, not far away from Podgoria Market (Piata Podgoria). “Paduricea” (The small forest”) was once part of the much larger Ceala forest situated at 2 km west from the city.

Today Ceala covers a surface of about 1560 ha and is the favorite place for going out at week-end for Arad dwellers. There is also a lake and an island formed by Mures and one of its tributary rivers.
