Transylvania Film Festival – Celebrating Film for 8 Years

There will be plenty of other occasions to fully enjoy the TIFF experience. The drive-in projections, for example, which were inaugurated at the last edition of the festival, will be organized once more in the Iulius Mall parking lot starting May, 31st. Moreover, the Transylvania Highway, which is actually still under construction, will also be the host of a film projection. For a short period of time, the highway will play the part of a drive-in cinema, where people will be able to watch the movie in the privacy of their own cars. This is a rare and original event in Romania, where drive-in cinemas are practically non-existent.

Cinema fans will be given the opportunity to go to the TIFF Meeting Point, at the Arts Museum in Cluj-Napoca for a series of daily encounters with public figures in order to debate on the themes presented in the festival. While at the museum, people will get the chance to contemplate a photo exhibition by famous Romanian photographer, Cosmin Bumbut, organized under the name “Cuba continues” and capturing the true essence of this country.

TIFF will have its closing ceremony at the Lucian Blaga National Theatre from Cluj. Renowned actress, Claudia Cardinale, and Florin Piersic, one of the most popular Romanian actors, who are the guests of honor at TIFF 8th edition, will be awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award at the TIFF Closing Gala. Also receiving an award for his remarkable career will be famous Romanian film director, Dan Pita. The 8th edition of the Transylvania Film Festival will unquestionably prove to be a memorable experience for all its participants. So maybe you should go sometime, even if it is not this year. I get the feeling that TIFF will be around for a long time to come.
