Reaping Dreams with Paula Seling

Paula Seling and her albums until 2008 Singing to the world, this is the dream that drives her. And she has been building this dream for over 10 years now. June 10th, 2009 marked the launch of a new album, after almost 6 years of work in the studio. Meet Paula Seling, one of the best female voices on the Romanian music scene.

Paula Seling worked all her life in order to get to the point where she is now. She was first introduced to the piano when she was only 6 years old and she never could imagine her life without music after that. When you listen to Paula speaking, you realize that she possesses such great sensitivity that she would have been lost without art as a means of expression. It is obvious that music is what saves her, that it is her only way of surviving in a world that is less and less driven by the values she believes in, by morals and spirituality.

The base of Seling’s career was officially set at age 15, when she enrolled in the School of Arts to seriously study music. Soon she started travelling and taking part in various local Romanian music festivals. Paula began feeling more and more confident, when confirmations of her talent came in the shape of recognition gained in these events. Maybe the first significant achievement in Paula Seling’s career was in 1997, when she won the Mamaia Festival trophy, a very popular musical manifestation in Romania.

One year later, Paula was introduced to a very popular artist in the Romanian music industry, Mr. Nicu Alifantis, which would prove to be one of the most influential persons of Seling’s career direction. After what she calls “a soul searching period”, she discovers the music styles that represent her: rock, jazz, jazz-rock, soul, rhythm and blues.
